Elon Musk has had official control over his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) for little over a month now, and in that time he hasn’t made very many friends among the American public.

According to some polling, his net-approval among Americans is down to -13%, while the actions he’s taking in government aren’t well-liked by the people.

Let’s see what the latest data from south of the border is telling us about Trump’s chosen government efficiency tsar.

Near Majority Disapprove Of Musk’s Job

Ipsos asked a series of questions for the Washington Post about Elon Musk and his role as Trump’s de facto second-in-command. When asked whether Americans approve or disapprove of how he’s handling his new job, 49% say they disapprove, while 34% say they approve.

Opposition is highest among Democrats, with 81% saying they disapprove of Musk’s work. On the flip side, 66% of Republicans approve of his job handling, with a notable portion of them (19%) saying they disapprove.

As previous polling around Musk has shown, the difference of opinion between men and women continues to rear its head. Among men, his net job approval sits at -9%, which is much better for Musk than the -23% net approval he has among women.

While Elon’s personal job approval remains below water, that’s considered smooth sailing in contrast to the ire he’s garnered from Americans through his actions in government thus far.
