The Race For Government Heats Up
As Liberals recover in the polls, the Conservatives guarantee at a majority government continues to slip away
Throughout the month of February, data from Canada’s pollsters suggested the Liberals were on the rise nationally. While the Conservative lead shrunk as the Liberals recovered, the New Democrats have been consistently down in the polls.
Of the last seven unique polls, the Conservatives lead in five, with their largest lead coming from Leger at thirteen-points. Two pollsters, Ipsos and EKOS, found Liberal leads of 2% and 1%, respectively.
The NDP’s best polls also came from EKOS and Ipsos, having them at 16% nationally. However, every other poll has them below 16%, with their lowest (Pollara) showing the party down at 11%.
Let’s take a look at the polling averages across Canada and model them out to get an idea how parliament would look on today’s numbers!
